Thad’s with Tree People

On Sunday, May 5, Thad's will not meet at the Writers Boot Camp for Sunday morning worship. Instead, we will meet from 9am-12noon at Cheviot Hills Recreation Center. Please come join us! 

Location: Cheviot Hills Recreation Center (we’ll meet in the parking lot near the baseball fields; just look for the big, white TreePeople truck)
Date: Sunday, May 5th
Time: 9am-Noon
 
What we’ll be doing:
-        Pulling Weeds
-        Watering
-        Spreading Mulch
-        Adjusting Stakes & Ties to keep trees growing straight
 
TreePeople will bring all the necessary tools (including gloves) and we’ll go over the specifics of the work the day of the event.
 
What volunteers should bring:
-        Close-toed shoes
-        Comfortable clothes that can get dirty
-        Sunblock/Sun hat
-        Water bottle
-        Picnic Supplies (optional, but welcome!)
 
CHILDREN ARE ABSOLUTELY WELCOME! 
 
 

 Please note: THERE WILL BE NO SUNDAY SERVICE AT THE WRITERS BOOT CAMP on May 5th.

Love-Raiser for Kenny Ryman

On Sunday, April 28th, we are having a fundraiser for our dear friend Kenneth Ryman. Kenny is battling Stage IV esophageal cancer, and he needs our support. For years, Kenny has run the soundboard, podcasting, video, and been part of the setup crew at Thad's. After years of his help, it is time for us to help him. 

This will be a fundraiser with an emphasis on the word fun! We will be celebrating love, music, and our community’s ability to address Kenny’s needs for this challenging journey. Please join us for a unique, inspiring, feet moving, hand clapping musical concert experience. Minimum $20 donation. Come join us at the Writer’s Boot Camp on April 28th from 6-8pm!

Thad’s/Imagine LA Christmas Drive

In partnership with ImagineLA, Thad’s is collecting socks, underwear, jackets and gift cards (Target or Toys R Us $20+) for toys.  Nothing should be wrapped, but notes from the donor are appreciated. Please include your names and addresses for thank you cards from recipients.

At present, ImagineLA has 30 families in the program and almost 50 kids. For a breakdown of the kids by age and gender see below:

Please bring socks, underwear, jackets, and gift cards for toys to Thad’s by December 16th to take part in this drive.

Christmas Eve Service

Christmas Eve at Thad’s is a blast! We tell the story of Jesus’ birth with a Christmas play, great music, and a celebration of the Eucharist, which is also known as Communion or Holy Communion in other traditions.

Everybody’s invited to participate in whatever way you choose. Please join the party at 5PM on Christmas Eve!

Sunday Night Dinner: 12/9

Thad’s Sunday Night Dinners are back on December 9th!

The dinner will be hosted by Steve and Bonnie Turner at their house in Hancock Park. Please join Thad’s and the Turners on Sunday evening, December 9th at 6pm.  Food is provided. Please bring whatever you would like to drink. In order to RSVP, please email info@thads.org with a number of people attending.

Hope to see you then and there!  The Turner address will be distributed to those that RSVP.

On Sunday, September 16th, we will be celebrating Thad’s 6th birthday! We will ring in the birthday in full regalia during our regular 10am service at the Writers BootCamp.

Brené Brown at Thad’s: 9/23

On Sunday, September 23 from 5:30-7pm, Thad’s will welcome author Brené Brown to the Writer’s Bootcamp for a lecture and signing of her new book Daring Greatly. This event is open to the public. Please come early to guarantee seating. Admission is free. Hope to see you there!
